Bastide St François

Bastide St François

Nestled in the bucolic hills above Cannes, La Bastide Saint François is the poetic revival of an 18th-century agricultural mill, meticulously reimagined by architects Caprini & Pellerin. This 500-square-meter estate now stands as a refined country residence where historic soul and contemporary sophistication coexist in effortless harmony.

Materiality becomes narrative here. Reclaimed oak beams, Périgord stone, antique marbles, and hand-forged ironwork form a rich, tactile palette that speaks to provenance and permanence. The interiors are dressed with a discerning mix of bespoke furnishings and signature pieces by Ralph Lauren, George Smith, and Volevatch—each chosen not only for beauty, but for their timeless gravitas.

Conceived as a generous retreat for gathering and repose, the bastide unfolds through double living rooms, a glass-bathed dining space, an outdoor kitchen, sculptural wine cellar, and expansive terraces that blur the line between architecture and garden. The master suite, imbued with masculine restraint, contrasts gently with playful, inviting spaces designed for children and guests on the upper level.

Infused with equestrian cues and the tailored spirit of a gentleman’s club, the home honors its pastoral past while embracing a contemporary way of life. Masonry staircases, aged pine libraries, artisanal lighting, and textured patinas form a language of understated luxury—an architecture of emotion, memory, and cultivated living.

Here, luxury is not declared — it is felt. In silence, in material truth, in the thoughtful dialogue between old and new.
